Why check the vehicle before departure?
Whether you're renting a car for a city trip, a family holiday or a business journey, a quick inspection before you leave helps you avoid nasty surprises on the road. It also lets you report any issue to the rental company immediately, before you drive away. Spending a few minutes checking the vehicle is far better than dealing with a breakdown or a dispute later.
Exterior checks
Walk around the vehicle. Check the bodywork for scratches, dents or cracks in the windshield. Make sure the tyres are not visibly worn or under-inflated. Test the lights: headlights, indicators, brake lights. Try the wipers and check the washer fluid level. If possible, look underneath for any leaks.
Interior checks
Inside, ensure the seats are in good condition and the seatbelts work properly. Check that the accident report form, registration document (or copy) and insurance certificate are present. Test the air conditioning, heating and audio system if you need them. Check the fuel level: is it full, or as per the contract? Note the mileage at departure.
Documents and mandatory equipment
Before you drive off, make sure you have: a valid driving licence, the vehicle registration document, the insurance certificate and the accident report form. Also check for a warning triangle, a safety vest and a fire extinguisher if required. These items may be mandatory depending on local regulations. If in doubt, ask the rental company.
Match the vehicle to your needs
Your vehicle choice should reflect your journey and practical needs. Number of passengers, luggage volume, type of roads: a small city car may be enough for urban travel, while an SUV or a more spacious vehicle will be more comfortable for a long trip or a family outing. Also consider comfort (air conditioning, interior space) and intended use. Don't rely on theoretical availability: actual offers depend on the partners and their fleets.
Prepare the rental before departure
Before confirming, read the rental conditions carefully: fuel policy, mileage included, insurance, deposit, cancellation terms. These vary from one partner to another. If you choose to drive yourself, check that your licence is accepted and that you meet any age or experience requirements. If you prefer a vehicle with a driver, ask about the available options. In any case, ask the partner to confirm the exact conditions in writing before you pay.
Use VORIK to compare
VORIK lets you search and compare vehicles offered by rental partners. The platform does not own the vehicles: it connects you with available offers. Actual availability therefore depends on the vehicles visible on the platform at the time of your search. Take the time to compare several options based on your needs (size, equipment, conditions) and always verify the partner's conditions before confirming.
