When your rental vehicle is unavailable

Whether it’s an unexpected breakdown or a last-minute change, a temporarily unavailable rental vehicle can disrupt your plans. The key is to act quickly and, more importantly, to choose a vehicle that truly fits your mobility needs.

On VORIK, you can search and compare vehicles offered by rental partners. Actual availability depends on the offers visible on the platform at the time of your search. VORIK does not own the vehicles—they belong to the partners.

1. Clarify your mobility need

Before looking for a replacement, ask yourself:

  • How many passengers will you carry?
  • How much luggage or equipment?
  • What kind of trip: city, intercity, rough roads?
  • How long do you expect the vehicle to be unavailable?

A compact sedan may be enough for one or two people in the city. A larger sedan or an SUV can be more suitable for a family or for less practical roads. A bigger vehicle is also useful if you have bulky luggage.

2. Pick the right vehicle, not just the first available one

The right vehicle matches your journey and expected comfort. Consider:

  • Size: seating capacity and luggage space.
  • Comfort: air conditioning, seat type, features.
  • Intended use: frequent short trips or long distances.

Don’t overestimate your needs: an oversized vehicle can be less manoeuvrable in town. Conversely, a vehicle that’s too small quickly becomes uncomfortable if you’re many or heavily loaded.

3. Prepare your rental before departure

Once you’ve identified a vehicle, get your paperwork ready. Although exact requirements vary by partner, generally plan for:

  • A valid driver’s licence if you plan to drive yourself.
  • A piece of ID or passport.
  • A payment method for the deposit or security.
  • The vehicle documents to check upon handover.

Ask about rental terms: insurance, excess, mileage, fuel policy, vehicle condition report. Always ask the partner to confirm these points before you finalise.

4. With or without a driver: it depends on context

Depending on your familiarity with local roads, your fatigue, or local constraints, hiring a vehicle with a driver may be more comfortable. The self-drive option works if you prefer to drive yourself. Specific requirements (licence, minimum age, experience) are set by each partner. Check them directly with the partner.

5. Use VORIK to compare with confidence

VORIK lets you search for rental vehicles offered by partners. Compare offers based on your criteria, then contact the partner to confirm actual availability, required documents, and rental conditions. Don’t rely on assumed availability: it depends on the offers visible on the platform.

If a vehicle is temporarily unavailable, keep some flexibility: widen your search to equivalent vehicles or nearby partners. Planning ahead helps you stay in control.
